The Word is a Calgary-based DJ with over a decade of experience behind the decks. Deeply rooted in hip-hop culture, he has built a reputation for blending the old-school foundations of turntablism with modern mixing and party rocking, creating sets that are as technically impressive as they are crowd-moving.

Throughout his career, The Word has performed at clubs, festivals, and special events across Calgary, where he has also held club residencies. His experience includes opening for Quavo and Tyga at Badlands Music Festival, as well as performing alongside legendary Canadian DJ Skratch Bastid at Bastid's BBQ.

In the DJ battle scene, The Word was crowned the 2023 Canadian Regional DMC Champion and went on to earn 2nd Place at the 2025 DMC Canada National Finals in Toronto, showcasing his skills among the country's top DJs.

As an instructor, The Word is passionate about preserving the art of DJing by passing its knowledge and traditions on to the next generation. He believes every student can develop their own voice behind the decks and shows them how to explore all aspects of DJing, including turntablism, music selection, mixing, and performance, giving them the foundation to develop their own unique style and express themselves through music.
