Katie Fournell is a dynamic theatre artist who has been captivating audiences since earning her first acting credit in Grade 5, eventually graduating from Red Deer College with a degree in theatre and film acting. As founding member and director of the Erratic Players, named after Okotoks' famous Big Rock, she has created a professional theatre collective that's been selling out shows five nights a week with original productions like Murder at Twin Cities and A Sundance Carol. From winning Outstanding Fight Direction awards for coordinating sword fights in Henry V to directing goofy farces such as Noises Off, Katie brings history, humor, and heart to every production.

In addition to her work on stage, Katie contributes her expertise to the Okotoks Film Festival, where she supports the growth of local film and storytelling. Drawing from her experience in front of the camera, behind the scenes, and in the director’s chair, she has also begun designing new theatre and film courses that give aspiring artists the tools to explore every side of the creative process.

When she’s not directing her troupe of professional actors or teaching youth acting classes, Katie is busy building a thriving theatre scene in the Foothills that proves great theatre can happen anywhere—even in the most unexpected places.
